Especially when the weather is bad and it is hazy, foggy and the surrounding area is covered in clouds.

The Altkönig is worth a trip in every season.
There is no real "summit" but a large plateau with many trees and shrubs and also meadow sections.
A very nice place to switch off, to rest before you continue hiking.

In addition, really great views of the Great Feldberg and also on Königstein with its castle ruins.

The Altkönig is rather inconspicuous as a summit, which makes up a large part of the charm. No restaurant, no observation tower, but historically significant ramparts from the Celtic times. For hikers close to nature, one of the most beautiful mountains in the area.

Great highlight in the Taunus, it's not a peak as one might expect but rather a large plateau. It offers a view towards Großer Feldberg on the NW side and Kronberg/Königstein on the southern side.
Very popular for mountain biking and as a hiking highlight.
