Forcella Ambrizzola (2277 m) is a strategic connection hub for several high-altitude itineraries, including the Alta Via nr. 1 of the Dolomites. A crossroads of numerous paths, between Croda da Lago and Becco di Mezzodì, it has the peculiarity of being an extremely panoramic place. From wherever you reach it, Forcella Ambrizzola offers spectacular views of the territories it connects and the relative mountains: the Conca Ampezzana (with Croda Rossa, Pomagagnon, Cristallo, Tre Cime di Lavaredo in full view), the Valle del Boite (with Antelao and the Sorapiss Group), Mondeval and Val Fiorentina (with Pelmo and Civetta in the background). It can be reached by itineraries coming from different directions, all sharing the length, the relative simplicity of the route, the spectacular nature and breadth of the scenery. The closest support bases are the Rifugio Croda da Lago (G. Palmieri) on the north side, and the Rifugio Città di Fiume on the opposite side.
