Greek soldiers who left the Aydın region during the War of Independence gathered 94 villagers in this area when they came to the Koç Kuyusu location while escaping. Some of these villagers were lined up against the wall of the roof and shot and bayoneted; Some of them were stuffed into the roof and bombs were thrown on them. Those injured in the incident were thrown into the well, and the dead bodies of the martyrs were thrown over them, making it impossible for them to get out. Today, the well and the fig roof remain intact, with the bullet holes of that day visible. A monument was later built on the side of the Fig roof. The names of 55 people whose names can be identified are included in the monument, the names of the others were not identified because they were agricultural workers from the surrounding area. Information regarding the incident was obtained from four witnesses who were thought to be dead but survived with injuries.
