The most striking building in the Old Greek village of Mursallı in Germencik district is the Taxiarchis Church. Taxiarchis, which literally means 'archangel', is the name of an important icon in the church. The church, which is said to have been built in 1860, is one of the most important religious sites in the region for Greeks. In the Mursallı neighborhood, apart from the church, there are Greek houses as examples of civil architecture. In Mursallı, mud brick houses are still standing as examples of civil architecture.
