    Ribe is a pretty old town with a small Siel harbor. The ruins of an old castle can still be seen. There are also many old and interesting buildings (churches, monastery complex). Also the restaurants and the shops invite you to stroll.

      Ribe is the oldest city in Denmark and was the administrative seat of Ribe Amt until the Danish municipal reform in 2007. It has 8,315 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2019) and has been part of the Esbjerg municipality in the region of Syddanmark since this municipal reform. Throughout the entire Middle Ages to the early modern period, Ribe was the most important Danish port on the North Sea. Today the city has lost its former importance, but thanks to several preserved buildings from its heyday it still offers numerous sights.

        .... The many narrow streets in the old town are a bit more crooked than usual in Danish small towns. If they are particularly narrow, one recognizes this already by the name: Smalleslippe means one for example. The cobblestones arch even more than anywhere else, and the half-timbered houses have beams that are even slimmer than they used to be. Here and there the Dannebrog, the Danish national flag, is blowing in the wind on the flagpole in the gardens.
