        The Herzogshof was built in the 6th century as the residence of the Bavarian dukes of the Agilolfings. In the 9th century, it was expanded into a royal palace by the Carolingians. Later, it also served as an imperial palace for Ottonian and Salian rulers.
        The complex includes several buildings, including the Duke's Hall and the Chapel. The east wing of the Herzogshof was redesigned in 1937 and is now protected as a monument.
        After the Wittelsbachs moved to Munich, the Herzogshof was used for various administrative purposes. Today, it is a historical monument and a popular destination for visitors.
