        A sculpture of a golden catfish was set up in front of the Museum of Bavarian History in Regensburg on Wednesday. It is 8.60 meters long, more than two meters high and weighs around 870 kilos. The surface is covered with gold leaf. According to artist Oliver Störmer, an estimated 6,000 to 8,000 gold leaves were used.

            The landmark "golden catfish" (2019!) Is very controversial because of its cost. The size with an estimated 8 meters in length is unrealistic. "Normal" is probably up to (!) 1.5 meters. Lt. Wikipedia was fished in Ukraine one with 5 meters and over 300 kg.

              Unfortunately, the work of art is covered in stickers and smeared with paint. A cleaning and new paint would do it good. Otherwise, it's great to look at and worth a photo stop 🙂

                  "Nobody needs it," "Insane," "so horrible." Those were the comments... The issue wasn't the museum itself, but the sculpture that stands on the museum's staircase. The object is 8.60 meters long, weighs 800 kilograms, and is coated in 23 3/4 carats of gold leaf. The sculpture is supposed to depict a catfish, a fish known to non-Bavarians as a Wels.

                  Unfortunately, the catfish is repeatedly smeared and covered with stickers 🙄 whether you like it or not, it's now part of the cityscape.
