Lookout Mountain stands at 10,597 feet in the Roosevelt National Forest north of Big Thompson Canyon. This peak is relatively unpopular in part due to the fact is so close to iconic places like Rocky Mountain National Park. Lookout Mountain, however, is a great option if you're looking for some solitude at lower elevations, and wish to hike with dogs. You need to do a little but of scrambling up and over some boulders to reach the summit, but one you do you are rewarded with panoramic views of the entire area, including Rock Mountain National Park and the Comanche Peak Wilderness.
