If you want to have beautiful pictures of the Helsinki panorama without mirrors or glass panes, then we recommend going up to the Olympic Tower. There are only metal struts here, but no annoying glass panes that would impair the view.

Helsinki is the smallest city that has ever had the privilege of hosting the Summer Olympics.
Helsinki was originally intended to host the 1940 Summer Olympics after Japan gave them back in 1937. In the original application process, they came in second place after Japan. So Finland's capital started preparing for the Games and the arrival of athletes and visitors from all over the world. Construction works for sports arenas as well as service offerings, including hotels and ferry terminals, have started. The hosting of the Olympics was seen as an opportunity for urban development, but unfortunately the games had to be canceled in the spring of 1940 due to the outbreak of the Second World War.

After London hosted the Summer Games in 1948, they finally made it to Helsinki in 1952. Constructed in the 1930s, the Olympic buildings were finally serving their original purpose, although the grandstands at some venues had to be expanded.

Apart from the 1952 Olympics, the stadium has hosted a number of other major competitions, including the first ever World Championships in Athletics in 1983, and the same competition again in 2005. Finnish National Football team uses the stadium for most of its home matches.

In addition to sports, several biggest names in music have held concerts at the stadium.

Olympiastadion houses the Finnish National Sports Museum, exhibiting how successful Finland has been in various sports, despite being such a small country by population.
