This bridge saint was originally made of stone and dates from 1746.
In 1796, the original was damaged by French troops in the battle for the Opladen Bridge, which had been built in 1732.
The municipality of Opladen received a new status in 1829 as a donation from a senator from Cologne.
The figure, which was damaged again, was restored for the first time in 1972. From this time on, the cases of vandalism increased and the restoration costs were probably too high for the city.
Today St. Nepomuk is made of bronze. It was created by the Opladen sculptor Wilhelm Völker and has stood on the Wupperbrücke in Opladen in front of the Wiembach ponds since 1980.
