The Radermacher distillery is a traditional Raeren company. In 1836, Peter Radermacher, a farmer by trade, decided to set up a schnapps distillery. Even then he owned his own mill and the ground grain served him as a raw material for the production of schnapps. During World War II, the distillery got into trouble because the owners refused to join the party. Their license was withdrawn and the still was confiscated. Operations only resumed in 1948.
Today, in addition to the traditional Raerener "Töpfergeist" and the "Lambertus" whiskey, a wide range of other spirits and liqueurs are also produced and sold here in the oldest distillery in Belgium.
