In 1962, the monument was erected by the sculptor Ehlers at the request of the then municipal administration of Meinberg in abstract architecture.

In 1998, at the suggestion and expense of the association "1000 Jahre Meinberg", bronze nametags were used to commemorate the victims of war and tyranny with 170 citizens from Bad Meinberg, Fissenknick and Wilberg.
