Opened in autumn 2002, the Pinakothek der Moderne in Munich's Maxvorstadt district houses a collection of 20th- and 21st-century works. Contemporary artists are featured alongside representatives of the historical avant-garde. In addition, the museum presents a constantly changing array of exhibitions. The spacious architecture by Stephan Braunfels invites visitors to stroll and continually offers new perspectives on the space itself, as well as on the artworks on display. A café is located on the ground floor, with outdoor seating available in the summer.
