Rhaunen, Old Town Hall
Since place-defining old Rhauner Town Hall (Laubenhaus) was built in 1723 by the community Rhaunen and the High Court Association Rhaunen. In 1786 a rebuilding was carried out, whereupon the following excerpt from the official record of February 9, 1786 points out: "The future manifold edification and reparation of the local town hall, but in particular the amount required of all the high courts, as it necessitated the necessity of the omnipresent Rathhauß was repaired both in and out of the previous year, but on account of the contribution to costs between the other Hochgerichtsgem units Weitersbach, Krommenau, Stiebshausen, Sulzbach, Oberkirn, Schwerbach and Bollenbach and partly Errungen arose between the community Rhaunen, which almost broke out into processional expanses would be, if one had not come to their careful smelting [= contraception] for the amicable dispute above-mentioned disputes. According to them, "agents" [= mediators] between all the high courts have met with those of Rhaunen in friendship, and immediately appeared on behalf of the community Rhaunen: Peter Geib, mayor

[...] with the appropriate explanation that they had compared in kindness for harmony [...] because of the construction as well as reparation of the local city hall in kindness:
1. Entertaining and construction of the office and courtroom all alone.
2. Regulation and costs for town hall:
... that the execution and entertainment.,. half of the high court funds and the other half of that of the Rhauner community are denied.
3 [...] the municipality of Rhaunen had to entertain its common room in the town hall [...] as well as the tower in which the municipality of Klock hangs, with the epitome of the Klock itself.
[...] the main door in the entrance to the Rathhauß, the High Court subjects with the common whispers would have recently made such, or ordered to order, payment for half the payment.
5. If the statement was not subjected to any ambiguous interpretation because of the difference in pay, it would have been determined that, after deducting one half of the costs, the Rhaunen community was to pay its relative contribution to the other half as High Court subjects.
The massive ground floor has a lintel-shaped lintel with the year 1723. Characteristic is the covered porch with four wooden pillars. The half-timbered floor was repaired in 1930 under the direction of the Kreisbaumeister Koen / Bernkastel and studded with slate. In the belfry with the curly helmet hung until the years after the Second World War, the Gemeindeglöckchen, for many decades, the citizens called for community meetings and public announcements. Originally, the lobby was clad with a slatted wall facing the street.
For many years, two small rooms on the ground floor served as "hostel to the home" (nohtunterkunft) for hikers and beggars, called "Tippelbrüder". On the upper floor were up to the transformation workshop and apartment of the plumber family Schneider. For many years, meetings of the municipal council have been held regularly in the community hall. The »Old Town Hall« with its unique - characteristic architecture is the landmark of the town.
