The Charlottenburger Tor is a monument on the Straße des 17. Juni and was built between 1907 and 1908. The building ensemble consisting of monumental colonnades, candelabra and groups of figures forms the counterpart to the Brandenburg Gate.

Most recently, the colonnades with the preserved figures of King Frederick I and Queen Sophie Charlotte were renovated in 2004–2007 and the destroyed candelabra rebuilt in 2007–2010. The crowning groups of horses and deer have not yet been restored.

The Charlottenburg Gate is located on the border of the Berlin districts of Charlottenburg and Tiergarten on Straße des 17. Juni between Ernst-Reuter-Platz and the Siegessäule.
It was built in 1907 and 1908.
The city of Charlottenburg at the time had a higher tax income than Berlin and therefore proudly built its own gate in front of the Brandenburg Gate.
Two 5 m high bronze sculptures are attached to the outside of the gate.
They show Friedrich I and Sophie Charlotte.
On each side of the street, a richly decorated candelabra, around 22 m high, was set up to hold the arc lamps.
In April 2010, the restoration of the two almost 22 m high candelabra on the west side of the Charlottenburg Bridge, each with eight arc lamps, was completed.
The bronze lighting fixtures have a diameter of 4.50 m and weigh one ton each.

The west side of the bridge was decorated with two large candelabras.
In 1937, the two wings of the gate were moved further apart from the original 20 meters to 34 meters as part of the expansion of the east-west connection to the Nazi Via Triumphalis. During the Second World War, the candelabras and parts of the gate wings were destroyed. From the end of 2004 to the spring of 2007, the gate was extensively renovated and restored by the Berlin Monument Protection Foundation, financed by the Samsung company, which advertised itself with mega posters on the armory.
The construction site equipment was housed in the bridge that connected the two gate wings. The renovation was completed in February 2007. At the beginning of 2007, the Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf district office handed over the Charlottenburg Gate to the Berlin Monument Protection Foundation for free use until 2021.

In 1857, August Stüler built a tax collection house on the former Charlottenburger Chaussee, in the area of the Charlottenburger Bridge over the Landwehr Canal.
It was demolished in 1907.
Bernhard Schaede then built the Charlottenburger Gate in 1907-08 as the city entrance and counterpart to the Brandenburg Gate.

On the east side of the bridge, a colonnade-like gate complex was built with larger-than-life bronze statues of the city's founder, Frederick I, with a sceptre and ermine, and Sophie Charlotte, with the model of Charlottenburg Palace by Heinrich Baucke on the side facing the Tiergarten (1909). The wall also had allegorical bronze sculptures by Georg Wrba on the pillars.
