Please do not encourage others to camp there too. It is forbidden and nature suffers as a result. There is rubbish from campers everywhere and there are plenty of other places where you can camp, just not here! leave your tent at home or in the car. Thanks =)

If you come from the Staubernhaus and leave the mountain ridge down a few bends, the northern foothills of the Kreuzfelsen are irresistible in view. The corrugated rock, set off steeply, is a worthwhile sight along the way.

The sight of the rock formation is breathtakingly beautiful. You should definitely have seen it!!! Ascension is possible in different ways. The easiest will probably be the one from the lake. The one from the Hoher Kasten is far away. And the valley side is very steep. We had the latter.

At the bend to the descent towards Fälensee there is a small path up on a spur. Up there in a dizzying position you have a clear view of the Saxer Lücke 🤗 The view is simply wonderful (see picture).

But be careful - every wrong step can end up there fatally!

A truly gigantic place! The climb is comparatively easy and can even be completed in parts by train. Camping is tolerated, but there is very little space for tents.

It really is as beautiful as it is described. It is really worth walking here. Geologically, the Saxer Lücke is actually something special. You can find different layers of rock on both sides of the gap.
There are 4 hiking trails leading here. You should be sure-footed on each one.

From here you can see the striking Kreuzberge behind the Saxer Lücke.
The Saxer Lücke is located at an altitude of 1650 meters between the cantons of Appenzell-Innerhoden towards the Alpstein Mountains and St. Gallen towards the Rhine Valley. The pass is on the ridge between Hüser, which is at an altitude of 1951 meters in the northeast, and the Crützberg, which is at an altitude of 2151 meters in the southwest.
If you look at the striking rock formation you can see Kreuzberg 1 at an altitude of 1884 meters, Kreuzberg 2 at an altitude of 1969 meters, Kreuzberg 3 at an altitude of 2019 meters, Kreuzberg 4 at an altitude of 2059 meters, Kreuzberg 5 at an altitude of 2054 meters, Kreuzberg 6 at an altitude of 2041 meters, Kreuzberg 7 at an altitude of 2063 meters, Kreuzberg 8 at an altitude of 2054 meters.
Straight ahead is the Mutschen at 2122 meters and to the right is the Roslen Saxer First at 2151 meters.
