The tap-tap-tönchen is a flight of stairs in Wuppertal-Elberfeld. It is not the longest, but it is the most famous staircase in the city of Wuppertal, which is rich in stairs due to the hills. The name is onomatopoeic (onomatopoeia) and describes the sound of wooden shoes that used to be worn on the winding stairs.
