This oldest park in the Wuppertal urban area is magnificent: up to ninety meters above the level of the Wupper, and only twenty minutes' walk from the center of Elberfeld. With a dense network of paths and extensive meadows, flower beds, monuments and a wide range of facilities, the Hardt attracts its visitors to the green heights. Part of the Hardt and its crown: the botanical garden.

1807 "Alte Hardt" is created in the area of today's playground

1812 Construction of a windmill for oil production

1820 The Villa Ella country house was built in the neo-renaissance style

1838 The windmill was converted into the current Elisa tower in the classical style

1882 Realization of the expansion of the Hardt plants to the north
