Zumsteinhaus / Kempten Museum
The most beautiful classical town house in the city (1802) has been home to the newly opened Kempten Museum since 2019. Many original objects tell 2,000 years of city history. As an open and active place, it invites all visitors to discuss and participate.
Next to it, an artistically designed garden gate with a perspective lattice (1830) leads into the city park.

Kempten Museum in the Zumsteinhaus

The Kempten Museum wants to be an active, open and accessible place that presents content in a lively way and explains complex relationships in an understandable way. All visitors should feel welcome in the "living room of the city". Accessibility is a requirement. Including hands-on stations for all senses enable an exciting museum experience for everyone. Entry to the museum is free.

The exhibition rooms on the ground floor provide an entertaining, quick introduction to the history of Kempten and the Zumstein brothers - fabric dealers and builders of the house. A walkable city map shows all the city's sights. Anyone who would like to delve deeper into the history of the city will find the opportunity to do so on the first and second floors: Eleven themed rooms illuminate the exciting history of the city of Kempten from the Romans to today.
