Marktredwitz has a pretty old town that invites you to stroll. Particularly worth seeing is the historic town hall from 1384, which was created by converting an old castle complex.

To the left of the historic town hall, the fountain lion stands on a fountain. It is a typical example of baroque sculpture. It was made from grey sandstone in 1739 by the Eger sculptor Peter Anton Felser. The figure represents the heraldic animal of Bohemia and holds a baroque cartouche with the coats of arms of Marktredwitz and Eger. Until the end of the 19th century, it adorned the main fountain in the market square; today it stands in the pedestrian zone as a landmark of the town and a symbol of the unity of Marktredwitz and Eger.
