In the Ice Age Museum in Lütjenburg between Kiel and Lübeck, almost everything can be touched: a large mammoth molar tooth that lay in the North Sea, or a stone that is covered with numerous fossil shell shells. In the middle of the glacial upwelling moraine landscape on the Hessenstein, legacies from the ice ages and the development of the climate since the appearance of fossils are made visible.

The exhibition shows important fossils of the earth's history and explores the question of the origin of flint.

One of the most unusual and interesting exhibits is the replica of a woolly mammoth, which cannot be overlooked on the museum tour.

Well-signposted hiking trails around the museum invite you to explore the ice age landscape. You can end your visit to the museum with coffee and cake in a cozy café at the museum.

It shows how the mighty ice masses have transported Scandinavian rock over hundreds of kilometers to northern Germany, how ice and meltwater formed the surface of the landscape.
