      The Neuland lighthouse, the community's landmark, can be seen from afar. He has been showing seafarers their way for 90 years. It served as a navigation mark for 80 years. Today it is used by the Bundeswehr as a warning signal tower.

      The 40 m high Neuland lighthouse, built in 1915/16 for military-strategic reasons, closed the navigation mark gap between the Fehmarnsund and the Kiel Fjord. The lighthouse served as an orientation light for shipping and warned of shallows in the bay with additional warning sectors. Until 1982, 2 lighthouse keepers, who lived in official apartments at the foot of the tower, alternated their duties every 24 hours. The lighthouse is still operational and occasionally climbable.

      If you climb the 179 steps, you can tie the knot 40 meters above the ground. A wedding ceremony with up to 10 people is possible in the wedding room with a porthole.
