Altenmuhr Castle is a moated castle from the 12th century. It is considered to be one of the oldest and most interesting castle buildings in the upper Altmühltal, partly because it was immortalized in Schiller's "Die Räuber" in 1781 and is one of the filming locations for the film "Der Räuber Hotzenplotz" was.
