The church is ogival in style from the end of the 14th century, in which the polygonal apse stands out, higher than the nave with a vault with radial ribs. The north wall with two doors, one of them with pointed archivolts. On the south wall ogival windows. Baroque altarpieces inside The convent of Santa Clara is Cloistered although the church can be visited throughout the year during hours of worship.

The community of Poor Clare nuns settled in the city in the s. XIII. The convent church was built in the second half of the s. XIV, it is of gothic style with an important set of baroque altarpieces.

Located outside the walls, next to the so-called Camino de Castilla, it was located at the Puerta de Santa Clara, one of the five entrances of the old wall, together with the Puerta de las Trabancas, in the Plaza de la Ferrería, the Puerta de Sano Domingos, in the convent of San Domingos, the Puerta de Santa María a Grande, in the Basilica of Santa María a Mayor, and the Puerta del Puente, on the Burgo bridge.
