The fact that this beautiful little water mill is so little known is not only due to its isolation from the "classic", highly frequented bicycle routes and hiking routes. Until a few years ago, it was not mentioned or only mentioned very marginally in the relevant literature, brochures, cycling maps and mill calendars (annual program of the grinding and baking days) for the Minden-Lübbecke mill route. The Knicksiekmühle is now number 44 in the current maps and leaflets on the mill route.

The Knicksiekmühle Volmerdingsen, also called Wassermühle Volmerdingsen or Hofwassermühle Albert (mill route no. 44), is accessible from the "Warmer Krug" road. It belongs to Hof Albert (Knicksiek 21). The mill on the Knicksiek, fed by the Wittekindsquelle Bergkirchen, was first mentioned in 1608. Since the mill stream only carries a third of water as a result of mining work in 1906, the mill was switched to electric power in 1947/48 and the mill was shut down completely in 1953. For more than 30 years she lay in a slumber and fell into disrepair. 1989-92 it was lovingly restored by the Volmser Heimatfreunde in voluntary work. Since then, the mill has been functional again and is occasionally open to the public. The small water mill, idyllically "hidden" in the valley behind a grove, has remained an insider tip for mill enthusiasts to this day.
