During the First World War, Liezele was completely reduced to ashes by the Belgian army to better anticipate the enemy. Unfortunately, this did not please the people of Liezele, who were in dire straits both morally and financially.
In these circumstances, a few people took the initiative to establish the Midden Kredietkas (Middle Credit Fund). The population of Liezele consisted mainly of farmers. A farmers' guild was soon established. The Rural Guild branch flourished and soon had a hundred members.
This monument was erected to commemorate the founding of the Rural Guild in Liezele.
