A detached rock slab at the edge of the path with the inscription: "In memory of GUSTAV HEYNHOLDS 1862" in the Uttewalder Grund, about 200 m from the Uttewalder Felsentor.
Gustav Heynhold (or Gustav Heinhold) was a German botanist about whose life and work not much is known.
His most important work is the "Nomenclatur botanicus botensis" a compilation of the botanical names of garden plants.
It is not without reason that the commemorative inscription was placed in the Uttewalder Grund, since Gustav Heynemann himself stayed there and was certainly impressed by the multitude of mosses, ferns and plants.
With the inscription on the sandstone slab, three of his friends Friedrich Wolfgang Hübner, Gustav Poscharsky and Carl Friedrich Seidel wanted to create a lasting memory for their friend at this point.
But after just a few years, the inscription seems to have been forgotten. On August 15, 1885, the chairman of the "Fatherland Mountain Association Saxonia" drew attention to the bad condition of the inscription in the magazine "Über Berg und Tal". Over time, it has become almost unrecognizable due to weathering and a covering of moss. He asks the Wehlen section to restore the inscription.
