The Bastei is probably the most famous highlight of Saxon Switzerland. In the high season from April to October, the bastion is frequently visited by tourists. The Bastei bridge is a classic among the hiking destinations in the Elbe Sandstone Mountains, with magnificent views over the Elbe and the Lilienstein. The visit in the early morning is most worthwhile to enjoy the sunrise and the flow of tourists is also very limited.
