The Uttewalder Grund is one of the "old-famous" and most beautiful canyons in Saxon Switzerland.
Coming from Dresden via Lohmen, the so-called Malerstraße led the sensitive Wanderer through the then still wild and lonely ground, starting in the Romantic era.
Uttewalder Felsentor
The Uttewalder Felsentor once represented one of the most famous tourist sights in Saxon Switzerland. The gate is formed by three fallen rocks, which are stuck in the steep walls of the here man-sized canyon.

The Uttewalder Grund is easy to walk on. As an entry I like to choose the small town Lohmen. There you can get from Pirna well by bus and by train Pirna-Sebnitz (in September 2019: rail replacement transport). On the way you can branch off to Rathewalde, to Wehlen or over the Zscherregrund to the bastion.
