Het Noorden is a polder mill in the polder Het Noorden north of Oosterend.

When the north-eastern areas of the island of Texel were being reclaimed, it was found in 1878 that a large mill was needed to drain the area. When it was built, the mill was equipped with an auger. In 1928 the mill was equipped with streamlined blades and three screw pumps based on the system developed by the Leiden mill builder Dekker.

The turbulent history of the windmill
Although the windmill De Traanroeier is one of the most important attractions on the Dutch North Sea island of Texel, it was built on the mainland. It was created in the village of Zaandam in the province of North Holland. There she started operating in 1727. Zaandam is well-known for the nearby windmills of Zaanse Schans. For almost 200 years, wheat was ground to flour with the De Traanroeier mill. In 1902 it was decided to remove the building and to rebuild it on the island of Texel. In Oudeschild, the flour mill found a new home. The original components were used. De Traanroeier was the only grain mill on the island and remained in operation until 1935. Subsequently, it was first shut down.
In 1943, the community bought the historic windmill and thus saved it from further deterioration. In 1963, the Texelse Electricity Company decided to use the mill for power generation. After extensive reconstruction work, the building went to the local power grid two years later. However, the operators quickly realized that the mill was not working profitably and shut them down again. Only in 1999 was a major overhaul of the windmill. Since then, the four impellers turn again in the wind.

As Tobias already wrote: There is an error here. The mill shown and the one described are not identical. Both are worth seeing. The inside of the mill in Oudeschild (located on the Kaap Skil museum grounds) can be viewed. The museum is a good recommendation - not only for "mill fans"!

The windmill De Traanroeier is further south in Oudeschild. The windmill in the photos is the windmill Het Noorden. For both there's also Higligh entries.
Maybe you can change that.

Het Noorden is a polder mill north of Oosterend on the island of Texel.
In 1878, when the northeastern areas of the island of Texel were being cultivated, a large mill was needed to drain the area. During construction the mill was equipped with an auger. In 1928 the mill was equipped with casing knives and three screw pumps according to the system of the mill builder Dekker from Leiden.
The mill was decommissioned in the 1960s and became the property of the Vereniging De Hollandsche Molen in 1970, which was restored a few years later. Later, two of the three screw pumps were made grindable again. Nowadays the rods are equipped with the jib system with sails and the mill grinds the water in a circuit on a voluntary basis.
