There was originally a sandstone dedication tablet above the entrance with the inscription: “DEM PRINCE BISMARCK; THE FAITHFUL SERVANT OF THE GRAND EMPEROR UNTIL DEATH". To the right of the plaque is the coat of arms of Brandenburg and to the left is the coat of arms of the von Bismarck family with the cloverleaf.

The Salzwedel Bismarck Tower looks back on a very checkered history. It experienced many structural changes, vandalism and structural decay, but also repeated renovations. It was closed to the public and reopened. Originally a fire basket and flag stand were attached.

This observation tower is hidden in the forest. On the way, I only saw a small sign. Unfortunately, it's only open on certain days of the year. The route up there is quite easy, and you don't have to accelerate much.
