The snorer cliffs are an impressive, two-towered granite rock formation. On the one rock there is a viewpoint. Height: up to 671m. NN.

The Schnarcherklippen consist of two rock towers around 20 m, 25 m to 28 m high and are part of the Brocken granite massif. They show clear woolsack weathering.
A special feature of the cliffs is the deflection of the compass needle from its north direction due to the presence of magnetite in the rock.
When the wind blows from the southeast, the cliffs produce strange noises that resemble human snoring.
Hence the name Schnarcherklippen.
Due to the woolsack weathering, the cliffs offer ideal terrain for sport climbers.
On his third trip to the Harz in September 1784, Johann Wolfgang von Goethe visited the Schnarcherklippen, among other places. These were mentioned in Faust I and Faust II:

If you want to go to stamp point no. 14 of the Harz hiking badge, you shouldn't arrive too late in the day. Otherwise it's quite dark at the box.
The stamp box is standing quite carelessly between the trees, no shelter, just a bench 10 m away.
The Schnarcherklippen are a real highlight.
