The artist Heinrich Brummack created this fountain. He was represented at documenta 8 in 1987. This year the action “City deforestation instead of city administration. 7000 oaks ‹completed by Joseph Beuys. The next to last oak planted was the one next to the fountain, No. 6999, a linden tree.

In my opinion, the "Marktbrunnen" is one of the most beautiful fountains in Kassel. With a lot of subversive symbolism, the lid is missing in summer and the cooking pot is bubbling over - in the middle of the weekly market on Wehlheider Platz.
