    The Cloth Hall of Herentals is a classic cloth hall from the Middle Ages. The accompanying tower was a belfry. It now contains a carillon with 49 bells. It is one of 56 belfries in Belgium and France that have been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Source Wikipedia

      In the heart of Herentals is the Cloth Hall, the most important witness to the rich Herentals past.
      In the fifteenth century the wool weavers and cloth makers built the Cloth Hall to trade in it.
      The oldest sources mention the 'gulden huys', 'meethuys' or 'loothuys'.
      The last major renovation was in 2010.
      The Cloth Hall now has a socio-cultural function. The Cloth Hall is freely accessible during exhibitions.
      The octagonal belfry has been standing on the north side since 1534. The pointed tower is about 35 meters high. A carillon has been hanging in the belfry tower since the mid-sixteenth century. The current carillon was completed in 1965. The belfry tower is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In front of the south facade is the Farmer's War Monument from 1898. He's getting to work
      near Herentals on October 28, 1798, one of the bloodiest episodes in the uprising of the Kempen peasants against the French.

        The Lakenhal, the most important witness to the rich Herental past. The building was built in the early fifteenth century by wealthy wool weavers and cloth makers to conduct their trade. In 1512 the building was almost completely destroyed by a fire. In 1534 the reconstruction was a fact. In the course of time, many repairs and renovations were made to the town hall. The last major renovation was in 2010.
        The Lakenhal is a sober rectangular building. The height of the tower is about 35 meters. The oldest sources call the building the “gulden huys”, “meethuys” or “loothuys”. Around 1430 the building was officially named town hall. Since 1998 it is officially called Lakenhal. The belfry is on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
