The "Zum Engel" inn at Königstraße 45 in the town center of Bergzabern (behind the fountain on the right) was built in 1579 in the Renaissance style by the Dukes of Palatinate-Zweibrücken and used as the administrative and official residence of the district administrators of the Bergzabern district. It was converted into an inn in 1802. Today, the building also houses the municipal museum and is located a short walk from Bergzabern Castle. This pleasing depiction was likely captured during the artist's trip through the Palatinate and subsequently executed as a watercolor in his Munich workshop, enriched with a series of small genre scenes.

Probably the most striking building in Bad Bergzabern with a beautifully detailed facade. In comparison, the (much larger) castle seems rather boring. The floor plan itself is unusual, although probably determined by the course of the paths, but adding bay windows gives the whole thing something special.
