        Following the Motzener Straße, you will soon be able to spot the Great Roßkardtsee between the trees. With its depth of almost 20 meters, it is a popular bathing lake. On the railway line extends in the southwest direction, the Körsche Mochheide. Moch is an old term for moss. Previously, needles, lichens and mosses were raked from such areas as litter for the barn.

          The Große Roßkardtsee is around 17 hectares of water in the municipality of Groß Köris in the Dahme-Spreewald district of Brandenburg.

          The lake with no inflow or outflow is located north of the community and is bordered in the east by the Berlin – Görlitz railway line, in the west by Motzener Strasse and in the south by the Grüner Weg. To the north is the Kleine Roßkardtsee. An approximately 8 km long circular hiking trail leads along the water, which leads from the train station in Groß Köris over the Roßkardt and Güldensee lakes back to the train station.

            The approximately 16-hectare lake is located in the north of the municipality and is framed by the Berlin-Görlitz railway line to the east, Motzener Straße to the west and Grünen Weg to the south. To the north are the Kleiner Roßkardtsee and the Güldensee. It is the deepest lake in the Dahme-Heideseen Nature Park with a water depth of 20 m.

            The Großer Roßkardtsee is a groundwater permeation lake with no surface inflow or outflow. The Erlenbruch in the west of the southern bay is drained by a drainage ditch. The water quality developed unfavorably in the 2010s. The trophic level has increased from "mesotrophic 1" to "mesotrophic 2". There has been a decline in aquatic plants. Visibility depth was 1.5 to 3 meters.

            An 8 km long circular hiking trail runs along the water, which leads from the train station in Groß Köris via the Großer Roßkardt and Güldensee lakes back to the train station.

            At the time of the GDR, there was a holiday village on Motzener Straße, where pre-military training for the trainees of the Wildau heavy machinery construction took place.
