Helmholtzplatz is a rectangular square in the Prenzlauer Berg district of the Pankow district of Berlin. It forms the central square of the Helmholtz district. It is named after the physicist Hermann von Helmholtz. The heavily greened square with several children's playgrounds and a neighborhood meeting place is about three meters above the level of the surrounding residential streets Raumer Straße, Lychener Straße, Lettestraße, Schliemannstraße and Dunckerstraße. It conveys the character of a small park in the middle of the densely populated old building area and fulfills the function of an important recreational area for the residents.
