The Palace, which is the seat of the Chamber of Deputies, was commissioned from Bernini in 1653 and was later renovated by Carlo Fontana and Ernesto Basile.
Thanks to the Montecitorio opens its doors, it is possible to easily visit the building. The tour begins at the access portal located in the Plaza de Montecitorio and, accompanied by the building guides, the most well-known and suggestive places of the parliamentary headquarters are visited: the Aula where the 630 deputies meet in plenary sessions, the great corridor that precedes said Classroom called “Transatlantic” or “Corridor of lost steps”, the majestic Bernini steps that lead to the upper floors, and the large representation rooms located on the second floor: the She-Wolf Room, the Sala Aldo Moro and the Queen's Room.

The palazzo built by Bernini gave the square its name. Expanded to Parliament in 1920. Strictly guarded, you can only get in with permission and therefore the beautiful parliament hall is not all open.

Palazzo Montecitorio is a historic building in Rome, home to the Italian Chamber of Deputies. The building was originally designed by Gian Lorenzo Bernini for the Ludovisi family, but was later modified by Carlo Fontana and Ernesto Basile. The building has a concave facade with three portals, a dome with a spiral lantern and a flaming crown. In front of the building is an ancient Egyptian obelisk, which served as a sundial.
