Fantaisie Castle has housed Germany's first garden art museum since 2000. The history of garden art from the 17th to the 19th century is vividly presented here using numerous and valuable exhibits. The White Hall and the replica of the famous Spindler Cabinet with its elaborate marquetry are included in the museum tour.

Fantaisie Castle is in Eckersdorf-Donndorf, five kilometers west of Bayreuth.
It was built as another summer residence (after the Hermitage) for the margrave couple Friedrich and Wilhelmine of Brandenburg-Bayreuth.
The garden art museum is set up in the palace building.
The castle has a beautiful, large park.

The tourist info has marked some signposted hiking trails here. There is an information board at the car park at the end of the town in the direction of Bayreuth, opposite Rewe.

Fantaisie Castle with its castle park and the Salamander Valley in Eckersdorf OT Donndorf is always worth a visit. The park is extensive and impresses not only with its sculptures, water features and the Talmühlweiher pond but also with its interesting rock formations. The castle houses the Garden Art Museum and a café.
