    The park in the south of Bayreuth is a magnet for all generations. Enclosures and aviaries are embedded in the park design in the midst of old trees on the lake. Animals such as the Bennett kangaroo, Temminck tragopan and flamingos live in a species-appropriate manner in naturally designed enclosures and represent the biodiversity on earth.

    As a visitor, you will find botanical features and colorful summer flower beds in the park as well as real nature experiences. A large playground offers various climbing opportunities, a water playground and play equipment for people of all ages.

    In summer, a boat rental provides additional variety. The gastronomic offer with restaurant and kiosk rounds off the excursion.

            The animal park is located in the south of Bayreuth and is accessible year-round free of charge. The park combines both enclosures and aviaries as well as ancient trees and a well-kept park. At the lake is the inn Röhrensee with home-style food and a kiosk opposite the boat rental. There is also a large children's playground in the park.

              The Röhrensee is traversed by the Aubach from south to north and was created in 1891 through the merging of the Cunoweiher and the Rohrweiher in its course. With a length of 450 and a maximum width of 60 meters, it is the largest contiguous body of water in the city of Bayreuth. Where a dam used to separate the Cuno from the then slightly lower lying tubular pond, there is now an artificial island, which has been accessible from both banks via two filigree arched bridges since 1903.
              The name Röhrensee is derived from the former use of the Röhrensee. As early as 1611, a dyke water pipe was laid from the nearby spring farms to the city center, which fed four wells there. The pipes used for this, hollowed out tree trunks, were watered and stored in this forerunner lake. In the 19th century there was also a bathing establishment at the Röhrenweiher.
