In 1860, Eduard Lucas (* July 19, 1816 in Erfurt; + June 23, 1882 in Reutlingen) founded a private school for horticulture, fruit cultivation, and pomology here in Reutlingen. Eduard Lucas was also the managing director of the German Pomologists' Association, which he founded.

Pomology is the study of fruit species and varieties, as well as their identification and systematic cultivation. The name is derived from the Latin "pomum" = tree fruit. "Pomona" is also the goddess of garden fruits.

Incidentally, in 1984, the Pomology Institute, along with the Volkspark, hosted the Reutlingen State Garden Show. As part of the garden show, a park was created that still offers the people of Reutlingen a recreational opportunity close to the city center.

Pomologie is a park in Reutlingen. The Garden Life exhibition takes place here every year in May. Pomology goes back to the pomologist Eduard Lucas, who dedicated himself to growing orchards in Reutlingen and the surrounding area.

Always a crowd puller. Either for a walk or for a picnic. On Ascension Day, the Garden Life takes place here. There is also a playground. The arcade to the Rose Café is also very beautiful. In the warmer months, the café is open for food and church services are also held in the green.
