            The barrier-free viewing platform (Skywalk) at the Hermersbergerhof was planned for years, but was repeatedly delayed because new reports had to be drawn up and there were always requests for changes.

            Finally, at the end of October 2021, the platform was inaugurated and opened.

            It is located directly on the connecting road between Hermersbergerhof and Leimen shortly after the Hermersbergerhof. There are a few car parking spaces including a disabled parking space.
            Coming from the hiking trails, it is only about 50 meters west of the road

            According to the Association of Municipalities, the costs are around 90,000 euros, 70% of which should come from an EU program for tourism.

            The view to the west is overwhelming 😊
            You can enjoy them at any time of the day or year, standing at the overview board or sitting on a bench.
            PS: The view without accessibility is of course topped by the nearby Luitpold Tower with its undisturbed 360° all-round view.

            In my opinion, more local wood could have been used. The steel construction looks a bit oversized and a bit out of place in the biosphere reserve because of the lack of wood.
            But it is definitely more durable and makes more sense because of the accessibility, so a compromise 😉

              Newly built barrier-free viewing platform on the road between Hermersbergerhof and the car park at the Luitpoldturm.
              It remains to be seen whether the viewing platform is ecologically or touristically useful, but it offers a beautiful view of the Pfalzerwald to the west; I will soon test whether the Bollenblick is suitable for photography as a sunset location.

                                    Opening hours: year-round

                                    Admission: Free

                                    Directions for GPS: Horstweg 1, 76848 Wilgartswiesen and then a little further to the left.

                                    Parking: 4 spaces, one of which is wheelchair accessible

                                    Restrooms: No

                                    Restaurant nearby: Yes, in Hermersbergerhof, but currently closed.

                                    Hiking trail: The Palatinate Forest Trail passes 50 meters from the viewpoint.

                                    Photo spot: In the morning, fog drifts through the valleys. At midday, it's rather mediocre. In the evening, the sun sets opposite the platform. A beautiful subject and ideal for sun-star photography. At night, there's quite a bit of light pollution from a village in the valley and some wind turbines. It's somewhat adaptable with a good DSLR/DSLM camera. Could also be a nice subject for star trails.

                                    Other: There are no trash cans, so take your trash with you. The road is right next to the viewpoint. The fences have both small and large patterns. So, be careful with dogs or wear shoes.
