The bison is the only inhabitant of the Ice Age game reserve that has not been completely eradicated. The last animals living in the wild were killed in the early 20th century. Two bisons currently live in the Neandertal wildlife reserve. The two old ladies can usually be seen well on their pastures in the south of the enclosure. However, they especially like to lie on the heap of sand in front of their stable, where they can be easily observed.
