"... On the left bank of the Düssel River, 350 m west of the Thunis farm and 320 m southwest of the Winkel farm, stands the Winkelsmühle, which has been documented since 1483.

The mill building is situated directly below a projecting rock face on the north side of the valley. The former millrace and the current course of the Düssel were hewn into the underlying limestone. The existing weir has been modernized. Remnants of the old course of the Düssel can be found on the steep bank, on the southern and western sides of the valley, in the form of a pond.

The mill building is a three-story rubble stone structure with a two-story extension on the left side. This section is constructed of rubble stone only on the ground floor; the upper floor is timber-framed. The farm buildings opposite are modern.

After a fire, the mill building underwent extensive renovation in 1971. Further alterations were carried out in 1996.

In its over Over its 600-year history, the Winkelsmühle has undergone numerous structural changes, which are also reflected in archaeological evidence. It was first documented in 1387 in a list of tithes paid to Kaiserswerth Abbey. One hundred years later, the mill was granted milling rights by the Duke. When the obligation to mill grain was abolished during the French occupation, the mill was no longer economically viable. Necessary repairs could not be carried out, and the mill was subsequently auctioned off in 1802. ...
