Český Krumlov is a castle converted into a palace on a rocky outcrop above the left bank of the Vltava. With an area of more than six hectares, it is the second largest castle and palace complex in Bohemia (after Prague Castle). It is the most visited tourist destination in South Bohemia. In 1992, the entire historical complex of the castle and the urban surroundings were added to the UNESCO World Cultural and Natural Heritage List. The castle area is one of the largest in Central Europe in terms of area. It includes forty buildings and palace structures with five castle courtyards and the seven-hectare castle garden.

Cesky Krumlov is a gift that has come to us from time immemorial. In the Czech Republic, the size of the Krumlov Castle is surpassed only by the Prague Castle. Representatives of the Schwarzenberg princely family undertook the reconstruction of the castle, the palace interiors and the castle garden in the 18th century - then the city and the castle were transformed. Representatives of the princely family of Schwarzenberg lost interest in Cesky Krumlov, and the city began to gradually lose its significance. Rich people began to leave it, so that the historical center of the city has not changed since the 19th century. For this reason, Gothic, Renaissance, Baroque have survived here - thanks to these monuments, the city is now under the protection of UNESCO.
