The steep access path to the Melchior rock is well maintained and has 2 small signposts (at the very bottom and further up on a small stone staircase). The rock cave also looks good: a wooden railing and 3 wooden benches (without backrests). An original resting place!
"The rock group was already equipped with table and seating groups in 1963/64 and again in 1970/71 by the Southern Forestry Office in Elmstein. A railing secures the place down the valley where a German soldier in French pay named Melchior is said to have hidden for a long time during the Revolutionary Wars and was secretly supplied with food by the people of Iggelbach."
