Another very romantic fountain in the middle of the forest.
Helmuth Weitzel and Albert Kuhn are known for their great commitment to the
Preservation of the numerous Esthal fountains and springs. Now the two have
built a new well. The Hengstental fountain.
The new fountain is at the end of the Hengstental, where a source from the
Mountain produces clear water that flows down the valley to the county road. The
Water seeps into the meadows there or, depending on the season, flows with it
Water from the Wögelbrunnen and Tränkenbrunnen in the direction of the Sattelmühle.
The Hengstental got its name, as the local chronicle describes it, because
there used to be a horse changing station there.
In a one-week work campaign, Helmuth Weitzel and Albert Kuhn first
the site cleared of branches, the source revealed and professionally recorded.
Now the fresh spring water gushes out of a metal pipe into one
small sandstone trough, then further into a newly created small biotope, further into
the usual run down the valley. A beautiful fountain stone with the inscription
"Hengstental Fountain 2020" adorns the new facility. The stone comes from
Area of the wayside shrine, explains Helmuth Weitzel, who masterfully cut the stone
