The Zinnbach would actually be the main source stream, but it is better to pass by at this point. Therefore, this source was nicely framed and declared as the official Cheb source. After the tough ascent - no matter from which side - a nice place for a little break.

The Eger has its source at a height of 752 meters on the northwest slope of the Schneeberg, the highest mountain in Upper Franconia at 1,053 meters. From its source, the river makes a total journey of 325 kilometers.
As early as 1850 there was a first provisional spring mount. At the instigation of the town of Eger in neighboring Bohemia, the new edging was carried out in 1923 by Grasyma AG Wunsiedel. The official inauguration was Pentecost 1924. The Egerquelle is a natural monument.

When the boy came to the Eger:
"Eger, speak, where are you hurrying to?"
"To the Elbe" there is a lot of noise,
"I have to move to the Elbe!"
When the boy came to the Elbe
the answer was difficult;
thunder roars back the same:
"And I have to go to the German sea!"
Another memorial stone on the source square with beech stock commemorates the Sudeten German displaced people.

The Egerquelle, which was elaborately drawn in 1923, is located on the north-west slope of the Schneeberg at an altitude of around 750 metres. However, the actually most important source stream of the old Eger is the Zinnbach. Due to better accessibility, this spring was declared the official Cheb spring in 1850.

The names of the towns and communities through which the Eger flows are carved into the circular stones. Right next to it is a memorial stone for the Sudeten German expellees.

There are also tables and benches in the immediate vicinity, which are ideal for a rest.

It is not far from the car park of the pass-like local connecting road from Bischofsgrün to Weißenstadt to the source of the Eger. There are hiking maps of the region at the parking lot, and benches for a rest right at the source.
I have also drunk from this spring. Here you have a spring basin, similar to the much smaller Jesus fountain at Gefrees Gottmansberg, which may make it difficult to remove it "cleanly". In summer, when the drought persists, the discharge can be low.

The square has been redesigned with more seating, barriers and notices, dead wood with an information board and unfortunately some felled trees.
