For four years, the city of Hanover has been campaigning for more natural areas in urban areas with the project called Cities Dare Wilderness - also in Linden. There and at other selected locations, metal signposts in the form of isopods now point to the project areas.

Sounds like a contradiction, but it isn't: Wilderness is possible almost everywhere. When people withdraw, nature takes control - even in the middle of a big city. What emerges are unusual images of the urban landscape.

Nobody can foresee exactly how nature will develop in the midst of a man-made environment. In the “Cities dare wilderness” project, Hanover, Frankfurt am Main and Dessau-Roßlau faced the challenge and dared to explore more wilderness together. Our project was funded by the Federal Agency for Nature Conservation in the Federal Biological Diversity Program with funds from the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety.
