    MillDe Put on the Galgewater in Leiden is a 1987 replica of the postmill by Jan Jansenzoon Put.
    Next to the mill is the Rembrandt Bridge, also a replica from the same period, built in 1983.

        Within walking distance of the station is the mill, which overlooks no tourist. When walking through Leiden, the mill, now a museum, can be visited. It was built in 1785 and became a municipal museum in 1966. The only surviving miller apartment in the Netherlands is on the first floor. Furniture is from 1900.
        Monday is closed.
        Tuesday-Saturday: 10-17 h and Sunday: 13-17h

                The (rebuilt in 1987) standard mill that looks out over the Galgewater here originally stood at another location in the city.
                In 1619, owner Jan Janzsoon Put moved his mill to this location at the Galgewater. He hoped to profit more from the westerly wind here.

                  Mill 'De Put' owes its name to miller Jan Jansz. Put, owner of the mill that stood on this spot in the 17th century. The mill was rebuilt in the 1980s. The mill is located on the northern bank of the Rhine. This was built at the beginning of the 17th century. The city prospered and the population grew steadily. After the Relief of Leiden in 1574, the city had 10,000 inhabitants, in 1600 there were already 24,000. Leiden was the largest city after Amsterdam and overcrowded. The city council therefore decided to expand on this side of the city. The bridge here became a key thoroughfare.
